Release 8 – September 12, 2021
New Features and Enhancements
CAS Application Enhancements
Annual Fall Lookup Updates (2021)
This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
Many fields in the Applicant Portal contain predefined answer values that applicants can select. For example, the Country and County fields both have predefined answer values. These values are contained in shared “lookup tables.” With this release, the second of two semi-annual updates to these lookup tables has been implemented. Review the Shared Lookup Table Updates for Fall 2021 to learn what changes are new in the Applicant Portal and WebAdMIT. Note that the changes in WebAdMIT are scheduled to be released later this week; review the Timeline for more information.
Programs Can Request Foreign Transcripts Separately from Domestic Transcripts
This enhancement is available in 2021 Release 9.
Admissions by Liaison Enhancements
The following enhancements are now available in Admissions by Liaison. All enhancements are automatically available to all CASs and participating programs using Admissions by Liaison. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. If you have any questions about these features, contact your Account Manager or support.
Expanded Conditions Builder
Admissions by Liaison has been enhanced to allow you to perform simple calculations. Simple Excel-like functions are now available, allowing the creation of common kinds of calculations and custom strings they need without JavaScript knowledge.
CAS API Enhancements
The following enhancements are now available in the CAS API. All enhancements are automatically available to all CASs and participating programs using the CAS API. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. If you have any questions about these features, contact your Account Manager or support.
New Filters Added to GET Applications APIs
A new version of the GET Applications call has been released, allowing filtering by program-selected status and date range. This allows you to more precisely identify the specific applications you need to retrieve from the CAS API.
New GET/Accounts/Info API
A new utility API returns key identifiers associated with the CAS API user and related values from the CAS database. The information returned by the GET /api/v1/accounts/info API includes authorization IDs and other metadata and can be used to formulate subsequent API requests. This is useful as a starting point for integration applications, as well as testing and maintenance.
Support for Reapplicant Properties Added to Application Response
Two new properties have been added in the GET Application response:
- Reapplicant to CAS: reAppToCas is set to TRUE if the applicant applied to any program in the CAS in the last 3 cycles.
- Reapplicant to Organization: reAppToOrg is set to TRUE if the applicant applied to a program within the organization (i.e., school) in the last 3 cycles.
Configuration Portal Enhancements
Ability to Customize Internal Question Labels for Custom Questions
This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
You can now assign Internal Question Labels to the Custom Questions in the Program Materials section of the application. This enhancement allows those questions to have a name that remains the same for each cycle, which is helpful for data integration (e.g., "legacy"). It also allows you to add more descriptive field names.
Letters by Liaison Enhancements
Enhancements Made to Likert Scale and Browser Support
This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
Likert scales are enhanced to no longer default to the selection of Not Observed. Also, recommenders are now unable to save their progress if all their Likert scale responses are Not Observed.
Lastly, if a recommender attempts to access Letters by Liaison through Internet Explorer browser version 11 or earlier, they are alerted that they are using an unsupported browser and are prevented from continuing their session. The recommender must then switch to a supported browser to continue their work.
Footer Added to Login Page
This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs except for Common App for transfer. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
Letters by Liaison now features a footer that includes links to the Privacy Policy and the Accessibility Statement.
Time2Track Enhancements
The following enhancements are now available in Compact2Learn, MyInternshipJournal, and Time2Track. All enhancements are automatically available unless otherwise noted, and no action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. If you have any questions about these features, contact your Account Manager or support.
Changes to Supervisor Status
This enhancement is available for use by Compact2Learn, MyInternshipJournal, and Time2Track.
This enhancement implements changes to the existing supervisor Status field and creates a new Registration Status. The Status field now specifies if a supervisor has an active or inactive account, while the Registration Status field identifies if the supervisor has registered their account.
Institutional administrators: see Manage Training Sites and Supervisors for more information.
New Flow for Account Creation
This enhancement is available for use by MyInternshipJournal and Time2Track.
Time2Track has a new, streamlined process for trainees to create their accounts. They can more easily connect to the right organization or configuration. For example, trainees with individual accounts can now easily identify their program of study, college or graduate school application, or licensure.
Time2Track example:
Additionally, a trainee cohort is automatically generated based on the year the trainee created their Time2Track account; previously, it was based on the program's start date.
Institutional administrators: review all the instructions you send to trainees and replace any links to the Create an Account page.
Adjustment to Level Functionality
This enhancement is available for use by Compact2Learn, MyInternshipJournal, and Time2Track.
The Profile Level has been removed from all trainees' accounts. This removal helps eliminate redundant data and reduces the likelihood of trainees configuring their accounts incorrectly.
Trainees no longer select a level when creating placements. Placement level is now tracked using the course level.
Institutional administrators: review and edit course names to ensure they reflect the appropriate course level.
Android Mobile App Approval Requests
This enhancement is available for use by Compact2Learn and Time2Track.
Several updates have been made to the Time2Track and Compact2Learn mobile apps, including:
- Trainees using the Compact2Learn and Time2Track Android mobile app can now manage and submit approval requests.
- Trainees cannot create a new account through the Compact2Learn and Time2Track Android mobile app; instead, they must create an account through the web app (e.g., on a tablet or desktop). The Compact2Learn and Time2Track iOS mobile apps already have this restricted behavior. Once trainees have an account, they can log in to the mobile app with their credentials.
- With the release of every new version of the Android mobile app, trainees must download the updates in order to use the app.
WebAdMIT Enhancements
WebAdMIT Now Links to CAS Status Page
This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
A Current Status of CAS and WebAdMIT link has been added to the Menu Bar, linking to https://status.liaisonedu.com/.
Special Characters from Custom Field Names Removed When Used as Merge Fields
This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
When you create Custom Fields, you can include special characters in the label (i.e., name) field. Additionally, you can include Custom Fields labels as merge fields in the File Name Pattern field in the PDF Manager. Previously, if you used a Custom Field label containing a special character as a merge field, the PDF template would not save. This enhancement automatically removes special characters from the Custom Field merge field names on screen. The special characters will still be included in the file names for any PDF Manager jobs you run and download.

Automated Applicant Emails During the CAS Application Process |
At routine moments in the application process, a CAS will automatically send emails to applicants. These emails guide applicants through the application process, ensuring that they are regularly communicated with and can access additional resources, including the Applicant Help Centers and customer service information. This document reviews the most commonly sent emails so you can more fully understand the application process and plan any program communications. |
Recommenders now have access to a Quick Start Guide, which guides them through navigating the Letters by Liaison portal and completing their recommendations for applicants. |
